Blog Carnival...Feb 09...How to cover a button! Old school!

When I was growing up, my grandmother had these buttons all over her house...in drawers and in her sewing basket!

All you need is a simple kit...you can get them at craft stores including Joanne's and even at Walmart!

The diagram below is exactly how it works!

Step One: Cut a piece of fabric down to about double the size of the button you are covering!
Step Two: Lay the fabric down on top of the white tool piece that came in your kit!
Step Three: Push the rounded top of the button into the fabric, into the tool!
Step Four: Tuck the fabric inside the rounded button part and then push the back piece into place!
Step Five: use the blue tool to secure the back of the button into place...be firm!
You have covered a button! Woot Woot! Happy Creating:)

Etsy Featured Blogger of February 2009...Donna Pool!

Be sure to check out Donna's shop on Etsy!

Think of my shop as a place where you can find something traditional...with a twist! All my soft toys and Christmas ornaments are very child-safe and every stitch is made by hand (I don't use a sewing machine).

I used to love looking through old Life and Look magazines my parents and grandparents had saved and I've collected old photography magazines for years. I make my vintage buttons out of recycled images from those because they're like preserving tiny bits of history...a fascinating little peek into the past.

Do check out Donna's Blog as well....Donna Says...

How to create a sticky blog post in blogger!

Step1: Connect to your Blogger account and click "Layout" in the "Dashboard."

Step2: Select "Add a Page Element" and choose the function you want to use as your "sticky post." For example, if you would like to announce an ongoing contest, you can choose "Text" and enter the details. "Text" allows you to add and edit HTML. By selecting "HTML/JavaScript," you also can choose to link to a previously written, archived post that gives the written details of the contest.

Step3: Complete the "Add a Page Element" template, click and drag the item to the "Blog Posts" section.

Step4: Click "Preview" to make sure the sticky post appears at the top of the page. Then click "Save."

  • You can create more than one "sticky post."
  • Using a "sticky post" is an effective way to drive traffic to additional sites you may have, such as another blog or online retail shop.
  • “Sticky posts" have no expiration date. To remove a "sticky post," simply click "Remove Page Element."

Move over bacon, I found something meatier: Ping.fm!

These days it seems as if these social networking and self promotion sites have been springing up faster and faster...every day there are new ones to join! Which means more time spending online posting messages to 3, 4....up to 10 different sites. It is endless. And then I came across Ping.fm tonight!

Ping.fm is a newer program (I believe) that I would call your "social networking executive assistant"! It is quite literally like "one stop messaging"! You spend 10 minutes plugging in all of your info for all of of your sites and then it manages them all for you...it literally does all of the leg work:) You want to make a post about something...open your ping.fm account and it posts to all of your sites!

I have my ping account now connected to...

Just think of all the time you will save! Now, get pinging...will you?

Etsy November Blogger of the Month: Storybeader !

A big shout out to storybeader (woo hoo) -this month's featured blogger!

I'm a frustrated writer who likes to put words and colors together to make wearable art. How do you wear words, you ask? I suppose my haiki poems can float around in your brain as you sashay down the lane, wearing one of my necklaces.
Each of my necklaces comes with a haiku, written specifically for the piece, by yours truly!
I love looking in dictionaries and thesauruses, playing with my dog, watching turtles, digging in the garden, and having salt spray in my face (that last one's a memory.)
Hope you have fun visiting my shop. I like to write more than talk, so drop me a line, and say hello.
Proud member of the EtsyBloggers. Visit my blog at http://storybeader.blogspot.com/

Stop by her shop this month and give Deb a little love!

And the blogger of the month is...MAMASMAGICSTUDIO!

Congratulations to mamasmagicstudio, this months featured etsy blogger!
She also owns bfbeads on etsy!

Can you even believe how cute these earrings are! How clever!

Welcome to Mama's Magic Studio! I'm Jen, the "Mama" who makes handmade magic happen. I have eclectic crafting interests, so there's no telling what you might find here: beadwork, jewelry, mobiles, baskets, accessories.... I have been an Etsy seller since February 2006, making "Baby Friendly Beads: Jewelry for Breastfeeding & Beyond" which are available at my other etsy shop: http://bfbeads.etsy.com

Baby Friendly Beads are beautifully functional nursing necklaces and bracelets. Breastfeeding jewelry gives baby something else to focus on and play with, instead of pulling mom's hair or pinching her skin. Reminder bracelets track nursing sessions.

Congratulations and may the feature grant you a month of success!
